A 5-nil trouncing of Caloundra on Sunday night was great preparation for Nambour Blue Demons as they head into this weekend’s Sunshine Coast Hockey Association Women’s Division 1 semi-final against Flinders.
Nambour finished top of the table and so will take on the fourth-placed Flinders while Maroochydore take on Buderim Rebels in the 2v3 playoff. Nambour boast a proud heritage having won 8 of the past 10 grand finals.
“Last year we lost to Buderim Rebels in penalty shoot outs after the game was drawn at full time,” said captain Kerrly Brown. “This year the team is building strong momentum heading into finals. This last round has allowed us to try new structures and work out what combinations have worked.
“Last night against Caloundra was no different to that. We are playing with confidence and trusting the process, knowing that each game we are moving forward in certain areas of our game.”
Nambour Blue Demons play Flinders in the 1v4 semi final this Sunday at 5.40pm at the Ballinger Road Hockey complex. The Grand Final is September 11 at 6.30pm at Ballinger Road Hockey complex.
